ESD (Electrostatic Discharge) is nothing new to the avionics industry. Occasionally, we can feel static electricity discharge when we touch a conductor. Did you know the static discharge "Zap" you feel when touching a door knob or another person is typically a minimum of 3000 volts, and electronic components can be damaged by an electrostatic discharge of less than 10 volts? Many failures caused by ESD are not immediately evident and thus all the more dangerous; sometimes the components are simply weakened and will fail later.

The Static Mat Kit is ideal for soldering assembly areas, providing superior resistance to heat, abrasion, and chemicals and is easy to clean and maintain.
